Software Developer – Mainframe Applications
We at Intellyk are seeking a Software Developer with strong expertise in mainframe technologies and a passion for delivering scalable, cloud‑native solutions. This role offers the opportunity to support, enhance, and modernize mission‑critical applications while collaborating across teams to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 production support for critical mainframe applications, ensuring high availability and stability
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application abends, DB2 issues, and CICS/IMS failures
- Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2
- Monitor batch jobs, perform restart/recovery, and optimize performance
- Manage and support online transaction processing through CICS and IMS DC
- Conduct impact analysis for changes and support enhancements
- Collaborate with upstream/downstream teams during incidents for timely resolution
- Participate in release management activities including code reviews, deployments, and validations
- Drive continuous improvement through performance tuning and process optimization
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence
Additional Skills
- Strong grasp of design principles and architecture fundamentals
- Understanding of performance engineering and quality processes
- Ability to translate functional/non‑functional requirements into system requirements
- Experience designing and coding complex programs, writing test cases, and working within SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Awareness of latest technologies and trends, with strong problem‑solving and collaboration skills
Technical & Professional Requirements
- Primary Skills: Mainframe Technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, IMS, VSAM)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Hands‑on experience in COBOL coding/debugging
- Proficiency in JCL job setup, scheduling, troubleshooting
- Solid knowledge of DB2 SQL, performance tuning, utilities
- Expertise in CICS online transaction processing and debugging
- Experience with IMS DB / IMS DC transaction flows
- Strong knowledge of batch and online processing environments
- Familiarity with production support tools and incident management processes
